I’ve mentioned it before, but I’ve been going up to Portland to collaborate with my friend, Joshua Bassett, and perform as a special guest with his band, Welfare, whenever I can. Well, their album, I’m Gonna Hurt You, Anyway, is now finished and available for streaming and download on bandcamp!
It’s available for “name your own price”, which means just that, you can pay anything from $0.00 to $10.00 to $1,00,000.00! I think it’s great if you download it no matter what, but it can’t hurt to toss a few bucks to your hard-working do-it-yourself musicians making a nice piece of art for you to enjoy.
I’ve been listening to it over and over. It has a lot of variety and the sound quality is really nice. My favorite song is probably “Blink and a Blast”, which is really catchy, or “I See You”, which is just beautiful. I sing back up vocals on “My Infrastructure”, “I’m Like You” and “I’m So Goddamn Lonesome”. They recorded it themselves, too! Ryan Aughenbaugh and Dan Bacon are both recording majors and have put together a pretty nice home studio. I’m really impressed by the audio quality, especially considering how fast they got it out! I went into record vocals the last week of September, and they had their release show by the 2nd or 3rd week of October! Which included hand-making all of the cases.
So proud of these guys!
