New album, a bicycle tour and a Vaudeville Extravaganza!

Hi.  Hello.  It’s been a while!  Big dreamy dreams are coming to fruition, these days.

Right now, I’m writing from Portland.  I flew up here to record with Joshua Bassett, from Welfare.  I’m featuring him on a few tracks on my new album, I’ve been working on, “When my love knot slips…”.  It’ll be a 6-7 song album, featuring catastrophic love songs like “Watch out Nosferatu”, “Coyote”, “I’d Rather be Lonely and a cover of “Mon Homme”.   I just started a painting for the album cover.  It’s fierce.  Get ready.

In May, the real adventure begins.  I’m going to do a 6 week music tour from Seattle, WA, all the way home to Long Beach, CA, by bicycle.  Yes, bicycle.  Powered by the muscles of my own two legs and the wind in my lungs, feeling every dip and bump along the beautiful Pacific Coast!  My friend, Sarah Rosenberger, is going to be my adventure companion for the trip.  She’s an amazing lady: a surfer, chicken-chaser, writer, traveler, and a believer in the hearts and dreams of those around her.  I’ll be playing shows in Seattle, Olympia, Portland, Eureka, San Francisco, Santa Cruz, Big Sur, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura and then on home to Long Beach!  I have this vision of 100 cyclists riding back into town for the big homecoming show.  Let’s do it.

So, to make all this happen, we’re doing a fundraising campaign through Indiegogo.com in March.  We’re going to kick it off with a free screening of Pee Wee’s big adventure at the Viento y Agua Coffeehouse in Long Beach, CA on Thursday, March 1st.  I’m also putting together a Kinks cover band for that show with some of my talented friends.  It’s going to be a fun night to unveil our project to everybody.  Then mid-way through March, Sarah is putting together an Alley Cat race in Long Beach, which will be kind of like a scavenger hunt by bicycle.

And then, just to add some super sweet and creamy icing on the cake, I’m putting together another Vaudeville Extravaganza at the Art Theatre in Long Beach.  I put together one of these a year and a half ago, to release the Alyssandra and the Daymaker’s album.  Here’s a review of the last one and a video of the opening number.  It’s going to be an eclectic night, featuring local poets, musicians, dancers, performers, films and sense of community.   So far we have Merrady, Eitan Kadosh, Miniature Houses, LN Warkentine and the Allies of WIII, Sirena Sirpentina AND… a stationary bicycle race between STRONG BEAR and the BIXBY KNOLLS RANGER.  Yes.  It’s happening.  The event is going to be on April 7th.

Tickets to the Vaudeville Extravaganza, along with a signed copy of “When my love knot slips…”, along with other fun prizes will be available on March 1st, when we kick off our Indie GoGo campaign for the “Follow Me Along the Sea” bicycle tour.  Stay posted!

If you’re in Portland, reading this, I’m playing a show on Saturday, Feb. 18th, at Oblique Coffeehouse at 2pm with Welfare.  It’s free and all ages!  Located on 30th and Stark.

  1. I genuinely enjoy looking at on this web site, it holds wonderful content. “The living is a species of the dead and not a very attractive one.” by Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche.
